We’re very pleased to announce that we will be opening a new location in Oakville, Ontario later this month. This is an exciting project for us, as it will make it more convenient for all our Oakville-based customers (individuals, trades, and industry), and, more importantly, it will strengthen our efforts to become a truly community-based service company.
Oakville Is One Of Canada’s Most Desirable Cities.
The Town of Oakville is a very friendly place. A beautiful and historic community situated on the shores of Lake Ontario within the Greater Toronto Area. Founded in 1827, it was declared a Port of Entry into Canada in 1834. Today, Oakville is home to nearly 200,000 residents and houses over 260 national and international corporate headquarters, representing a wide range of industries.
The Responsibility of Locating In Oakville.
In most jurisdictions, there are restrictions on the location of any type of business. This is particularly true in the scrap metal business and in some cities and towns, it is not even possible to locate this type of operation. There is a NIMB, (Not In My Backyard), attitude. This is an often unfounded attitude because most yards are run on a very professional basis. The owners are generally good corporate citizens and neighbors and they execute sound environmental practices.
Of course, there are always exceptions and they tend to be what makes the news headlines.
In our case, Oakville was very welcoming and helpful when learning of our intention to open in their community. They are very much an environmentally friendly municipality and the synergies with our particular brand were recognized as a good fit from the start.
We will apply the same customer-driven focus in Oakville that has served to establish us in Mississauga, Ontario, and other parts of the Greater Toronto Area. Our new location will complement our existing operations and provide a valuable, green point of scale convenience for customers with scrap metal in Oakville as well as Burlington and Mississauga. The facility will be streamlined and efficient with the material sorting and processing being done inside the warehouse. It will not scrap automobiles or trucks, which tend to be the focal point of many of the community objections to scrap metal recycling operations.
We Take Our Corporate Citizenship Very Seriously.
Peel Scrap Metal has earned a solid reputation for its level of community involvement as well as the furthering of education and knowledge about scrap metal processing and its environmental benefits. We will carry this forward in Oakville and fully intend to be active in the area in terms of community support through our Chamber of Commerce affiliations and various sponsorship opportunities.
With opening day just a few weeks away, final preparations are proceeding at quite a pace. For those of you in the area, we invite you to visit us later this summer at 1150 South Service Road West in Oakville between the 3rd & 4th Line.
We will be having an official grand opening sometime in August. More details will appear here in our blog. scrap yard in Mississauga
